The Tilt stool is a simple cylinder with a comfortable concave surface at the top and a convex surface at the bottom making the stool slightly unstable. The playful shape invites people to move the hips around and sit actively making this stool a given conversation piece for any space.

I have been investigating cylindrical shapes in many of my projects, but this is the most refined shape to this date. A cylinder with two curved surfaces, that’s it. It is fascinating to see how powerfully people become moved by this unassuming piece of furniture, emotionally as well as physically.

The first stools were made in solid pine and walnut by the legendary lathe master Paul Kovacs in Stockholm. Since then, I have also been co-operating with RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB were we are researching the opportunities of 3d printing furniture with as much as 50% added wood particles in the filament.
