ARIAKE
ARIAKE COLLECTION
is a new Japanese furniture brand from Saga prefecture in the south of Japan.
Consisting of tables, storage and seating furniture made from white oak, sumi dyed ash, indigo dyed ash, hinoki and burnt cedar, the Ariake collection is made with a combination of advanced CNC machines and detailed handcraft.
Design directed by Gabriel Tan Studio, this new brand brings together designers from different countries with a common respect for Japanese culture and woodworking. Anderssen & Voll (Norway), Keiji Ashizawa (Japan), Staffan Holm (Sweden) and Gabriel Tan (Singapore) designed an extensive, 18-piece furniture collection during a one-week workshop in Morodomi during the winter of 2016. While the furniture designers were designing and prototyping new furniture with the craftsmen of Hirata Chair and Legnatec, branding by Swiss graphic design studio AnnerPerrin and photography by Zurich-based photographer Sebastian Stadler took place concurrently.
The collection was unveiled at the International Furniture Fair Singapore (IFFS) on 9th March 2017.
This is hands down, the best ascessory butique in Sweden. Exlusively selling some of fashions most interesting brands like Dries Van Noten, Mismo, Agonist, Oliver Peoples, Bow club and many others. Head over there to take a look if you are ever in town.

During last year I was commissioned to design a small boutique for mens accessories in Gothenburg called Miksajo. The store concept is to have very unique handpicked gods from high quality brands like Mismo, Dries Van Noten, Tärnsjö garveri, Mykita and many more. Today we mounted the piece de resistance, a fantastic glass cabinet weighing 180kgs (350lbs) standing on a mirror base. The cabinet is made up by 15mm thick glass and custom made brass fittings. More info will follow.
During Stockholm design week this February 2016 I had the pleasure of having an exhibition at Designgalleriet. The exhibition was a result of a very long exploration of glass and a theme that I call Anamorphic objects, meaning objects that change appearance depending on the point of view one look at them from. Take look att the project here.
